A bit of history
Edgbaston Watersports has offered water-based activities at Edgbaston Reservoir since the early 1980s. Early in 2007, Edgbaston Watersports was taken over by Martin and Jacqui Dutton and is now part of Bear Creek Adventure Ltd.
Bear Creek Adventure was set up by Jacqui and Martin in 1999 as a retail shop aimed at selling canoeing and kayaking equipment to individuals, centre’s and groups. They used their wealth of knowledge and experience as freelance instructors at various centre’s throughout the UK. To successfully expand and offer mobile activities such as a mobile climbing wall, fencing, archery, problem solving, orienteering and bike challenge courses to schools and groups as a more convenient, cost effective on site option for outdoor learning.
Due to the success of Bear Creek Adventure’s mobile activities, in 2007, they took over Edgbaston Watersports. Offering a variety of water based activities in the heart of Birmingham. The team at Bear Creek Adventure Ltd are pleased to be able to offer high quality courses and activities including sailing, windsurfing, raft building, canoeing, kayaking and power boating as well as their mobile activities.
The Centre is owned and run by Bear Creek Adventure Ltd t/a Edgbaston Watersports and although it provides activities and courses for all individual, local and national schools (both primary and secondary, special need schools and groups, colleges, universities, uniformed groups, youth organisations and youth groups) they receive no support or financial contributions from any local authority to meet all of its day to day costs.
